Bride & Groom Cake Topper?

Before I started reading Wedding magazines, I thought everyone had a Bride & Groom on their wedding cake. I guess if I had really thought about it I would have remembered not seeing one in years... but hindsight is 20/20.

Joseph and I agreed to have a Bride & Groom on the top of the cake. At the time, I wasn't aware that it was so out of fashion. Which isn't surprising given all the crap they are selling as wedding cake toppers!

Now I have a problem. I have agreed to have a Bride & Groom cake topper, but they are all TACKY with a capitol T! What's a Bride to do?

Hit EBay! No luck there either. Evidently the high end, antique Bride & Groom cake toppers are very collectible and are extremely hard to find. To bad I can't get my Grandmother to give hers up for a few weeks. She agreed but... I don't think she was keen on the idea.

I would love to have an antique bisque Bride and Groom from the 20's! Please keep your eyes pealed for one.

Brandon mentioned the Waterford Chrystal cake topper... Which is nice... but still not sold!

OHHHHHH... Why all the Tacky cake toppers! Am I the only Bride who wants... demands... a classy Bride and Groom?

remember that just because you said you wanted it doesn't mean that you have to follow through. (remember the Hunt-Phelan???)

If you can't find one that both of you like, just go with a cake that makes up for the fact that there's no topper. Plus, the topper is kindof 80's-90's.

This is true about cake toppers. Who wants a bride dragging her groom to the alter. Or a bride STRADDLING the groom. since I've only been to disney land twice in my life I'm not interested in Mickey mouse or Mini mouse. And I don't want precious moments with two 4 year olds kissing.. I'm not that girly

ok.. ok.. it is cute when it's something that signifies the couple. Like if the wedding is in Hawaii.. a couple with hula skirts and lays would be cute, or if there are Zoo-ologists who fell in love animals would be a cute cake topper with two little lions kissing.

Now a bride straddling a groom would make since if it was a GUN SHOT WEDDING!!. and no one wants to know that.

What's with the anorexic brides? All the brides I know are at least a size 10.. And something about a skinny skinny size 1 girl standing on CAKE!! It just doesn't seem right..

now am I write or just a little crazy?

I have to agree that it's difficult to find a classy bride/groom cake topper. I got married a little over a year ago and it can be a challenging task. I, too, think the straddling bride, and the bride dragging the groom are very tacky indeed.

But I must say that anorexic comment was not called for. Brides come in many different shapes, colors, and sizes. I was a size 2 bride and I am in no way, shape or form "anorexic." If all the brides you know are a size 10, you need to get out more. I have a friend that's a size 18 and a bride to be. I have another friend who just got married and is smaller and more petite than I. You could have worded your thoughts differently por2gesa, because I was offended by your ignorant comments.

You can always get a custom cake topper...you can pick the bride/groom's size, proportions, race, eye & hair color, etc.

Lets be adults here....

ignorant comment about anorexic bride?? hahaha.. you were offended?? hahaha..

you skinny girls make me giggle. it has nothing to do with the size of the bride it's the fact that there aren't any classy options for cake toppers.. and it's funny that most cake toppers have flat chested barbie doll figures.

Maybe if you would go eat a sandwich or something you would have enough energy to think straight and realize it's a joke.

Wow, okay... I definitely agree with the petite bride. Grow up! Honestly, I am almost 6 feet tall and I'm a size 10, and there is absolutely NO WAY that I would want anything but a skinny bride on my cake. I find looking at overweight people to be unappetizing. If it's on a cake, people won't want to lose their appetites.

Don't know if anyone already mentioned it, but I have a beautiful cake topper that is elegant, tasteful, classic and sweet. It's made by the company Wilton, who is a cake-company, and it is cast resin. It is called a few things: Bianca or Always and Forever. There are a couple versions such as one made out of crystal that you can't really see the detail on, one made out of "platinum" that looks tacky, one that is a blonde bride with a brunette groom, or, the one I chose, white resin...looks like a small statue. Mine has a music box attached and plays the Wedding March...beautiful and classic...you just have to look harder and have better keywords...look on eBay and Amazon.com, and even Winton's site

Hi! We used the Waterford Crystal bride and groom for our wedding because like you, I was baffled by the choices out there! My cake bakery made me sign a waiver in case it collapsed!!! My husband and I decided to place it on the cake together before cutting it together. It made for a nice picture. :)
Good Luck looking!!!! Just wanted to share my experience and reminisce!
