MidSouth Bridal Show

On Sunday, Tommie, Emily and I went to the MidSouth Bridal Show. It was fun to get the Bride Button! Very fun! Of course, we had gone to Ya-Yas prior to attending the show. Several Bloody Marys and etc were had by all! (They were fantastic! I definitely recommend the Bloody Marys!)

We met several different wedding vendors. I did get to speak to the ladies at the Cadre Building which might be in the running again. They said they might be able to swing me a deal... Wish Joseph liked the building better. He still swears it's dirty... but I love it so... we will just have to see.

We also talked to a lovely travel agent who I might have to contact concerning the Honeymoon! In all my past travels, we picked the trips based on price not a specific place or a specific time. So my experience will probably not help in booking a Honeymoon.

We also spoke with a company that specializes in preserving your bouquet which is pretty neat. At the time, I thought it was the best idea... now not so much!

We also found "The Ace of Cakes" of the south. My Mom & Me! They are in West Memphis. I thought I had chosen my "cake lady" but I just might change my mind. Their cakes were amazing. Make sure to check out their site as well and give me some feedback on what you think!

After the Show, Tommie and I went to another show... "27 Dresses" and what a great movie... very bridey and the perfect ending for the perfect day!

I am trying to plan a wedding in Memphis and just got started! Now that you are nearing the home stretch, do you have any advice? I am just trying to decide on a location! What didn't you like about Hunt Phelan and Cadre? What made you pick the Brooks?

Good luck with your wedding planning!

Do I advise... oh my... I have opinions on everything!

The blog itself should kind of outline some of my tips and trips (those items I totally fell down on).

As far as location, that really depends on if you are getting married in a church with the reception held elsewhere. This is what I am doing. We chose the church based on our connection to it along with it's location downtown.

As for the Brooks, we picked it after we crossed off everything else on the list. It's expensive, but they are very professional and have on wedding coordinator on site. Stacy is the best. I know with her overseeing my reception I won't have anything to worry about during my big day. The Brooks was also the only place my future hubby didn't turn his nose up to.

As for the Hunt-Phelan, they were not as professional or as friendly as you would have expected with the price they want to charge. I didn't feel comfortable leaving them in charge of anything. The home was also dirty. The carpets hadn't been vacuumed and miscellaneous items had not been put away properly. And did I mention the unfriendly part! Seriously! I have given them numerous chances to overcome their prior treatment of me and my wedding party with discussion of hosting a bridal shower or luncheon there, but... same thing... unprofessional blah blah blah...

I love the house and I wish it the best, but with the unfriendly attitude I don't know how they will remain open.

Cadre... well, my fiance has worked their in the past and evidently has gotten a behind the scenes look at the facilities... one word... Nasty. He wouldn't even discuss it with me. It would have been the perfect location for our reception, but he said NO which he very rarely does... I tend to listen when he does speak a negative opinion.

Hope this helps and please continue to visit my blog!
